Electricity Reliability
Electricity is not reliable in the village, and there are often power outages.  Though these are sometimes at specified times, they often occur without warning.  This is not only difficult for villagers who are unable to run ceiling fans and other appliances, but also for business people who are unable to run machinery.  For example, when there are power cuts launderer uses a coal-powered iron to iron clothes instead of usual electric one.

Solar
Vigyan Ashram has experimented with solar power, but found it to be prohibitively expensive at the time.  It is particularly difficult during the monsoon season when there is a significant period of cloud and rain.

Biogas
Vigyan Ashram has been experimenting with biogas.  These are also being used sparely in the village, but they are small and limited by the amount of water available.

Biogas is used for cooking, particularly by farmers with less than five acres and several cattle.
